Course Overview

With thriving planning education and campaign, several regulatory guidelines has been prepared and practiced to control urban growth and management. Strict control modalities are now in place (for many cities) to contain and manage urban expansion. This course has been designed to train student with appropriate skill and knowledge for area and site planning. This will cover designing new area for residential and industrial activities. This course will also offer students to know about different land adjustment techniques.

Course Objectives

This course will help students in gaining understanding and knowledge in:

·       Site selection for estate development

·       Site analysis for neighbourhood design

·       Policy and practices in designing a neighbourhood

·       Standard for land allocation for different purposes

·       Different layout pattern of roads and infrastructure

·       Plotting and adjustment honour natural and important man made features

·       Area and cost estimation for developing a neighbourhood

·       Developing project document 

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)

After completing this course students will be able to:

·       Perform site analysis exercises and sub-division planning;

·       Articulate drafting skill;

·       Develop CAD and graphics skill;

·       Operate Google Earth, AutoCAD and ArcGIS software interchangeably;

·       Estimate the cost;
