Course Overview

For building liveable space and ensuring quality urban life the importance of landscape is paramount in urban land use, planning and development. Whereas urban design is concerned about designing and shaping cities towards an urban renaissance.

Course Objectives

The learning objectives of this course are as follows:

·       To provide practical understanding about the theoretical notion of urban space with regard to landscape, urban design criteria, diversity of use, temporal activities and qualities

·       To  offer insight into the place making using design and landscaping criteria

·       To practically orientate students to the approaches and the concepts that inform intervention at planning and design scale 

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

·       Understand of key urban design agenda and criteria;

·       Apply urban design principles and landscape elements in analyzing quality of urban space;

·       Analyse the landscape design principles necessary to appreciate urban open spaces;

·       Design space following urban design criteria and landscaping elements and design principles.
