Course Overview

Planners use statistics for decision making. Along with previous course (URP 1251: Statistics for Planners), this course is aimed at enabling students with greater quantitative decision making. This course is designed for the advanced learners.

Course Objectives

The learning objectives of this course are as follows:

·       Explain and develop different kinds of indexes with application

·       Able to explain the relationship among variables

·       Calculate and interpret simple and multiple linear regressions

·       Students will be able to calculate and interpret different kinds of hypothesis tests

·       Demonstrate skills in explaining and exemplifying the basics of probability

·       Be able to describe and perform factor analysis

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)

After completing the course students are expected to be able to:

·       Exemplify the quantitative decision making process;

·       Recognize, examine, and interpret the basic principles of indexing multivariate data;

·       Compute and apply different kinds of regression for making decisions related to real world problem;

·       Apply probability and hypothesis tests in solving planning related problems.
