URP 3222: Urban Development Planning (Field Work & Studio)
Course Overview
This course aims to introduce the challenges associated with urban development planning in third world countries having special emphasis on Bangladesh context. Students of this course are expected to learn and understand the basics of urban development policy and planning. This course has been designed as part of the course URP 3221.
Course Objectives
It is expected that upon completion of the course student will learn the following issues:
· Components of Plan Preparation
· Defining the Aim and Content of any Plan
· Analyzing the Contemporary Issues of Planning
· Stakeholder Analysis and Actor Mapping in Urban Context
Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)
After completing the course students will be able to:
· Assess issues and practices related to urban development;
· Develop professional skills;
· Apply different theoretical underpinning and tools of plan preparation and implementation in real life challenges.
PROJECT BRIEF
Title: (Re) Developing public space of Khulna: A visionary proposal
Introduction:
This assignment aims to improve the plan making skills of the future planner. Students in the group will develop planning proposals following a theoretical framework and vision to guide the future public space development of a particular site.

· Sibbari public space site (formerly known as Zia Hall)
