Course Overview

This is not an introductory course; rather it builds on solid understanding in GIS. This course will focus on the advanced tools and analysis techniques of GIS. Each of the topics will lead by a lecture or briefing and an instruction driven tutorial. The reflection of the foundation course on GIS will be useful to conduct the tutorials.

Course Objectives

This course will help students in gaining understanding and knowledge in: advanced GIS analysis; network analysis; spatial modelling; spatial statistics; advanced Geo-processing; customizing GIS and web mapping. 

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)

After completion of this course, it is expected that the students will be able to:

·       Use different spatial statistical and geo-statistical tools;

·       Use at least one programming languages and programming libraries to execute the tools;

·       Demonstrate the output of the programme after execution.
