URP 3154: Urban Design and Conservation (Field Work & Studio)

Course Overview

This course aims to provide students the skill and knowledge towards development of an urban design policy framework. This course intends to provide a clear understanding about the key urban design principles necessary to make responsive environment. Once completed the students will be able to think both creatively and critically taking a three dimensional perspective to resolve the built environment issues.

Course Objectives

The objectives of the course are as follows:

·       Students will learn to analyse a sight taking an urban design perspective

·       Understanding practicality of urban design

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)

After completion of this course, it is expected that the students will be able to:

·       Study a site applying various urban design analysis technique;

·       Develop skill to academically defend a design scheme;

·       Demonstrate and produce knowledge of policy documentation of an urban design scheme.
