URP 4225: Coastal Zone Management

Course Overview

This course is designed to provide techniques for landscape planning for coastal areas focussing on cultural/social, economic and environmental variables expressed through an effective land management comprehensive plan.

Course Objectives

The course will help the students to gain understanding and knowledge of the following:

·       An overview of the land resources of the coastal and island areas

·       Identification of the problems envisaged in planning exercise

·       Application of appropriate tools and techniques in preparing land use plans

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs)

After completing the course students are expected to be able to:

·       Identify the tools and techniques for planning application of coastal and island areas;

·       Design and comply sustainable land management process in the coastal and island areas.
